GPSCockpit app for iPhone and iPad
CPSCockpit simulates a standard single engine aircraft VFR Cockpit using the iPhone GPS receiver.
It simulates speedmeter, altimeter, course indicator, climb indicator, experimental turn coordinator, g-meter and position information.
As with all GPS applications, CPSCockpit needs a direct view to the sky, the less obstacles are in the way, the better it works.
Movement in a general direction is needed for course, speed, climb, and turn indicators. Faster movement leads to a better result.
It usually takes some time to get a good GPS Fix, even under clear skies.
Although I work hard on not unnecessarily using GPS in the Background, heres the disclaimer:
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Well..
Was bored on a day and i downloaded this software and i can say its amazing how... This is clearly useless.
You dont move and it indicates 60Kts?
The ball overshoot the edge of the instrument, and the instruments refresh each 10 seconds, so even as a funny toy its not funny.
Dont waste your money.
Ah yes, just if you fly something without any instruments and are dumb enought to use this, the creator had the good idea to warn "NOT FOR OPERATIONAL USE" just so you know, anyway even out of operational use it doesnt works..
Best regards.
Needs work
The compass keeps disappearing and the speedometer still reads something even when stopped.
Not compatible
Great idea but doesnt work on Itouch gen 3..
Very Cool
Im impressed. I love the idea. More updates to increase reliability please!! THNX
4-stars for concept, and Ill try it on my way home.
I have been waiting for EXACTLY this application. Now, you just need to give a second view perspective - a HUD against a blue background.
Keep up the good work!!
